These enhancements are expected to align closely with the recent updates introduced in the Model 3 Highland.
Six-Seater Model Y: A New Option for Families
Tesla plans to launch the six-seater Model Y by the end of 2025, targeting families with its spacious interior. The company has instructed its suppliers to prepare for increased production, anticipating strong demand for this model. Giga Shanghai: Tesla’s Production Powerhouse
As Tesla’s largest global manufacturing hub, Giga Shanghai boasts an annual production capacity of 1 million vehicles. The facility focuses primarily on producing the Model 3 and Model Y. Operational since late 2019, it began delivering locally produced Model 3 units in January 2020 and Model Y units in January 2021. Shanghai plays a pivotal role in Tesla’s success in the Chinese market.
Model Y’s Popularity in China
The Model Y has emerged as Tesla’s top-selling vehicle in China. Between January and November 2023, a total of 418,428 Model Y units were delivered in the country, accounting for nearly 73% of Tesla’s total sales in the region. The refreshed Model Y is expected to build on this success, further solidifying Tesla’s position in the Chinese market.
