iPhone 17 Air design becomes clear

In recent years, Apple has been hesitant to make significant design changes to its iPhone lineup. However, this trend might shift with the iPhone 17 series. Rumors have long suggested that Apple has been working on an ultra-thin iPhone model, and recent leaks have fueled these speculations. The latest reports reveal the iPhone 17 Air, showcasing a radically slim design.

Tech analyst Jon Prosser has shared alleged design renders of the iPhone 17 Air via Front Page Tech. The standout feature of this model is its remarkable thinness. Apple’s slimmest iPhone to date was the iPhone 6, measuring 5.9mm in thickness. However, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be even thinner, coming in at 5.5mm, setting a new record for the iPhone series.

To put this into perspective, Apple’s thinnest device overall is currently the 13-inch OLED iPad Pro, which measures 5.1mm in thickness.

The iPhone 17 Air isn’t just about thinness—it also introduces a refreshed design philosophy. The most striking change is the camera bar on the back, a feature expected to be included in the Pro models as well. However, unlike the Pro versions, which house a triple-camera system, the iPhone 17 Air takes a minimalist approach, featuring:

  • A single camera sensor
  • An LED flash
  • A microphone

In contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a larger camera module to accommodate additional components, such as a triple-camera system, a LiDAR scanner, an LED flash, and a microphone.

While conflicting rumors surround the iPhone 17 Air, most sources agree that it will feature a 6.6-inch display. Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the device will be powered by a standard A19 chip, feature Dynamic Island, and come with Apple’s in-house 5G modem. Other anticipated specs include:

  • An aluminum frame
  • Face ID support
  • A 48MP rear camera
  • A 24MP front camera
  • 8GB RAM to support Apple Intelligence
  • Apple Gears Up for a Major Design Shift

While details about the iPhone 17 Air remain unconfirmed, multiple reports suggest that Apple is preparing for a major design overhaul with the iPhone 17 series. More leaks and official announcements in the coming months will provide further clarity on Apple’s next big move.
