Tesla to Update Model S and Model X in 2025

Tesla, a pioneer in the electric vehicle industry, has announced that it will be updating its Model S and Model X this year. Last refreshed in 2021, these premium models have struggled to meet sales expectations, failing to reach the ambitious targets set by the company.

Initially, Tesla had aimed to sell 100,000 units of these models annually, but by 2023, the actual sales figures barely reached half of that goal. Due to intensified competition from luxury automakers like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Lucid, and Rivian, Tesla had been focusing more on its mass-market vehicles, Model 3 and Model Y, leaving the Model S and Model X somewhat in the background.

However, Lars Moravy, Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, recently stated in a podcast interview that both models will receive updates in 2025. While Moravy did not disclose specific details, he hinted that some of the improvements introduced in the updated Model 3 and Model Y might also be implemented in Model S and Model X.

Expected changes include a new light-bar-style headlight design, improved efficiency, and aerodynamics, similar to what has been introduced in the Model Y. Additionally, Tesla’s reintroduction of the physical turn signal stalk, a feature highly demanded by users, might also be included in these premium models.

With this update, Tesla aims to regain a stronger foothold in the luxury EV market. While the exact details of the refreshed Model S and Model X remain unknown, Tesla’s move is expected to strengthen its position in the competitive premium segment. The industry now eagerly awaits to see how these flagship models will evolve in 2025.
