2025 Academy Awards: 'Anora' shines bright

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony took place this year, with the most prestigious accolades in the film industry finding their recipients. The standout production of the evening was the film "Anora." This compelling piece not only secured the Best Picture award but also clinched Oscars for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, marking a significant achievement. Additionally, Mikey Madison's performance in the film earned her the Best Actress award. "Anora" further garnered the Best Editing award, bringing its total to five Oscars and making it the most awarded film of the night.


Another notable production was "The Brutalist." This film earned Adrian Brody the Best Actor award, making him the first actor to win the Best Actor Oscar on both of his nominations. Moreover, "The Brutalist" also won awards for Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, totaling three Oscars.

The Best Supporting Actor award was bestowed upon Kieran Culkin for his remarkable performance in "A Real Pain." Zoe Saldaña won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "Emilia Perez."

Peter Straughan was honored with the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "Conclave." "Dune: Part Two" continued its success in technical categories by winning awards for Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

The Best Costume Design award went to Paul Tazewell for his work in "Wicked," making him the first Black designer to receive this honor. The award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling was given to "The Substance."

In the animation categories, significant developments occurred. The Best Animated Feature award was claimed by the Latvian production "Flow," while the Best Animated Short Film award was presented to the Iranian production "In the Shadow of the Cypress."

The song "El Mal" from the film "Emilia Perez" won the Best Original Song award, and the Best Production Design award was bestowed upon "Wicked."

In the short film category, the Dutch production "I Am Not a Robot" received the Best Live Action Short Film award, while the Best International Feature Film Oscar was awarded to the Brazilian production "I Am Still Here."

In the documentary fields, the Best Documentary Short Subject award went to "The Only Girl in the Orchestra," and the Best Documentary Feature Oscar was presented to "No Other Land."
