Apple delays AI-powered Siri upgrade to 2026

Apple has announced that the release of its advanced, AI-powered Siri has been postponed to 2026. This means that iPhone users will have to wait a little longer before experiencing a smarter and more personalized virtual assistant.

In its statement, Apple emphasized that it is working on making Siri more tailored to individual users, enhancing the assistant’s ability to understand personal context and execute actions both within apps and across different applications. The company also highlighted that Siri will gain new capabilities, allowing it to take actions on behalf of users in a more seamless manner. However, Apple acknowledged that the development of these features is taking longer than expected, pushing the launch to next year.

Last year, Apple introduced the concept of an enhanced Siri as part of its "Apple Intelligence" initiative. The company promised that the assistant would be able to access apps and retrieve information stored on the device to complete various tasks for users. Examples given included Siri opening a podcast recommended by a friend or fetching a relative’s flight tracking details based on stored data. These improvements were aimed at providing a more intuitive and intelligent assistant experience.

Initially expected to be released with iOS 18.5, the AI-driven Siri upgrade may face further delays. According to Bloomberg’s tech journalist Mark Gurman, the rollout might not happen until 2027. As Apple continues to refine its AI capabilities, tech enthusiasts are eagerly watching for updates on the future of Siri.
