Apple Watch may get a camera and AI features

Apple is taking another step forward in wearable technology by considering adding a camera and advanced AI features to the Apple Watch. According to recent reports, Apple is planning significant hardware upgrades in the next two years to enable Apple Intelligence capabilities directly on the watch.

A Camera for Apple Watch

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, standard Apple Watch models will have a built-in camera inside the display. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Ultra model, known for its rugged design and professional use, will feature a camera placed next to the digital crown and side button. This addition will allow the watch to perceive the environment and use AI to provide real-time information to users.

Smart and Fast Use with Visual Intelligence

Apple recently introduced Visual Intelligence with the iPhone 16 series, and it became available for iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 18.4 update. This technology combines the camera with AI to perform various tasks quickly. Users can:

  • Instantly retrieve information about restaurants or businesses,
  • Translate foreign-language text in real time,
  • Listen to text being read aloud,
  • Identify plants and animals.

With a camera-equipped Apple Watch, many of these AI-powered features could be accessible directly from the wrist.

AirPods Might Also Get Cameras

Reports also suggest that Apple is considering adding small cameras to future AirPods models. These additions would strengthen Apple's position in the wearable AI market. Cameras in both Apple Watch and AirPods could enhance environmental awareness, making the user experience more immersive and interactive.

By integrating AI more effectively into its wearables, Apple is preparing to offer a smarter and more interactive ecosystem for users. A camera-equipped Apple Watch and AirPods could soon become essential parts of daily life.
