Nick Frost has been cast as Hagrid in the Harry Potter series

As HBO’s high-budget Harry Potter series progresses through its production phase, its cast is gradually coming together. This highly anticipated adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books is expected to bring the magical world back to screens in an exciting new way.

The iconic role of Rubeus Hagrid, previously portrayed by Robbie Coltrane in the film series, will now be played by Nick Frost. According to Deadline, the actor is in the final stages of signing a deal for the role.

A well-known figure in the comedy world, Nick Frost has starred in films like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End alongside Simon Pegg. More recently, he has appeared in Truth Seekers and Fighting with My Family.

Earlier reports suggested that Brett Goldstein (known from Ted Lasso) was being considered for the role of Hagrid. However, the production team seems to have made their final choice with Nick Frost. This decision is likely to please many fans, as Frost’s physicality and acting style seem well-suited to the beloved half-giant character.

The series will also feature John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. However, the actors who will play the three young protagonists of the story have yet to be announced.

With HBO backing this ambitious project, the Harry Potter universe is set to make a grand return. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how this new adaptation will bring the magical world to life.
