Samsung has officially unveiled its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy M56, in India. Positioned as a trimmed-down version of the previously announced Galaxy A56, the M56 manages to stand out with its powerful specifications and extensive software support despite its more budget-friendly pricing. It will be available for purchase starting April 23 via Amazon India, Samsung’s official website, and the Samsung Shop app.
Sleek Design Meets Advanced Display
The Galaxy M56 features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Vision Booster technology, providing vibrant visuals and smooth user interaction. Its bezels are 36% slimmer compared to the previous model, and it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. An in-display fingerprint sensor adds a layer of security while maintaining a clean look. Weighing just 180 grams and measuring 7.2 mm in thickness, it is one of the slimmest and lightest phones in its category.
Balanced Camera System
On the rear, the Galaxy M56 sports a triple camera setup:
- 50 MP main sensor with OIS,
- 8 MP ultra-wide lens,
- 2 MP macro camera.
On the front, there's an upgraded 12 MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps with 10-bit HDR, ensuring detailed and vibrant footage for everyday use and content creation.
Hardware Power and Long-Term Software Support
The M56 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1480 chipset, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card. Running on Android 15 with One UI 7.0, the device’s standout feature is its 6 major Android version upgrades and 6 years of security patches, a rarity in the mid-range market and a big plus for long-term users.
Connectivity and Battery
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy M56 supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, dual SIM, and USB-C. The 5,000mAh battery comes with 45W fast charging, allowing for quick top-ups. However, features like stereo speakers, metal body, and IP rating are absent—common at this price point.
